Having collaborated with teams across the world, I often have to calculate expenses in currencies other than my local one, and like myself, there are many people across the world who experience this pain everyday, and this is even worse for business people and finance professionals who have to track finances in several currencies, so we set out to fix this.
The decision to make Kompare a Google Chrome extension was quite frankly an obvious one, and it’s not hard to see why. 62.9% of internet users, or 3.2 billion browse the web through Google Chrome, and we have also seen this play out in our own research. A chrome extension is also perfect because it drastically minimizes the steps involved in making a conversion in comparison to a website.
Kompare also enables you to convert from one currency to as many as 4 currencies at the same time, and is compatible with 160+ fiat currencies, and over 3,000 cryptocurrencies.
With Kompare, you are also able to convert values in batch, which is very useful when working with spreadsheets and dealing with large databases.
Building Kompare has been quite an interesting journey, filled with challenges and learnings, and has taught me a ton about the process of building a product and iterating on it. It has also taught me that sleep is overrated (lol, I’m obviously kidding. I make sure to get my complete 2.5 hours of sleep every night 🌚).
